He was a Third and Fourth Degree Knight with Council 3884/Newington, transferring to White Cross Council 13/Norwich. Rocky was one of the original founding fathers of the Newington Friends of Football (1973), serving as Treasurer and past-President. He and his wife, Eileen, spent the past ten winters in Barefoot Bay, Florida where he enjoyed the beautiful weather, playing golf and being in three bocce leagues. Rocky leaves behind the love of his life, Eileen (Brusseau) Ambruso, his son and “daughter”, Michael and Erika Ambruso, his daughter and “son” Michele Ambruso-Turf and Douglas Turf, of Newington, his son and “daughter” Mark and Bonnie Ambruso, of Norwich; his six beautiful grandchildren, Alexis and Mitchell Ambruso, Ryan and Kailey Turf, and William and Trinity Ambruso; his brother, Joseph Ambruso of Wethersfield and “special” sister, Mary Dellaripa of Wethersfield/Middlefield; also many nieces and nephews, and many, many wonderful friends. He was predeceased by his brother Anthony Ambruso. Rocky was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him, and will be missed immensely. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Norwich DaVita Dialysis for their kindness and support during the past year. We would also like to thank the doctors and staff in the cardiac wing at Yale New Haven Hospital for their exceptional care, especially nurse Emilie Ryan.
