Chester B. Zera, 93, the beloved husband of the late Stephanie (Koprek) Zera, passed away on Wednesday, May 5th, 2010. Born in Schenectady, NY to the late Peter and Maryanna Zera, he lived in New Britain for 70 years. Chester was a member of Holy Cross Church in New Britain, as well as the Pulaski Democratic Club and retired from The Fafnir Bearing Co. after over 35 years. He was an avid fisherman and a die hard Boston Red Sox fan. Chester leaves his son Richard Zera and his wife Jane of Kensington, his daughter Theresa Pierce of New Jersey, his five grandchildren, Peter and Amy Zera, Tanya and Jaime Williams, and Allen Rydell, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his loving wife Stephanie, Chester was pre-deceased by his son Chester B. Zera, Jr., his brothers; Walter and Stephen Zera, and his sister Sophie Murzyn all of New Britain. Chester's funeral service will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 10, 2010 at the Burritt Hill Funeral Home, 332 Burritt St. New Britain, CT 06053 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Church in New Britain. Interment will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery in New Britain immediately following the mass. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Burritt Hill.
